Privacy Policy ​

This policy covers Plenty for Mac, the plenty command-line app, Plenty for iPhone with its widgets and Live Activities, and the plenty.today website.

The short version ​

Plenty calculates everything on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The developer never receives your settings, birth date, location, calendar events, or check-in history, and nothing is sold.

What stays on your device ​

Plenty stores your preferences, your optional birth date and coordinates, your check-in history, and, on iPhone, a cache of the calendar events you choose to show. On iPhone, the app and its widgets share this data through their private app group. On Mac, the app and the CLI share one settings file in ~/Library/Application Support/Plenty; on Linux and Windows the CLI keeps its file in your user configuration folder.

Plenty does not add its own encryption to these files; they rely on your operating system's protections. Device backups may include them according to your own backup settings.

Optional permissions ​

  • Calendar: With your permission, Plenty reads events from the calendars you select to show current and upcoming events. On iPhone the cache contains event identifiers, titles, notes, calendar names, and times. Plenty never modifies your events. On Mac, HEY events are read through HEY's own command-line tool when it is installed.
  • Location: Plenty uses your location only when you turn on automatic location or press Use Current Location, to calculate sunrise and sunset offline. It keeps the latest coordinates, never a history. Manual coordinates work without permission.
  • Notifications (iPhone): Optional local reminders. Turn them off in Plenty or in Settings.

Every core feature works without these permissions. Your birth date is optional and only draws the life-progress bar, which is a population average and not a personal prediction.

Retention and deletion ​

Plenty keeps at most 500 recent check-ins: their time, the progress source, and on Mac the name of the app that was in front. Clear them from History on iPhone or Settings on Mac. Remove your birth date or coordinates in Settings at any time. Deleting the app removes its data; on Mac and in the CLI, delete the settings folder above as well.

Network requests ​

Plenty's calculations need no network. The only requests it makes are these:

  • Mac updates: Plenty for Mac checks plenty.today for new versions and downloads them from there. The request carries the app and macOS version, as any web request's user agent does. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
  • CLI installer: The install script downloads the CLI from plenty.today.
  • Links you open: Support, privacy, and calendar links open in your browser or the relevant app.

The website and downloads are served by Cloudflare, which processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Apple, your calendar providers, and HEY process data under their own policies when you use their services alongside Plenty.
